Tibet across the Himalayas. This short program is a kaleidoscope introduction to the
enchanted valley of Kathmandu. This is also an ideal program to combine with our Bhutan,
Tibet and India programs.
Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu. Well meet you at the airport and take you to your
hotel. Balance of day free to explore or just rest from your long journey.
- Day 2: Morning sightseeing of Kathmandu City and Swayambunath where you are treated to a
living goddess (Kumari), reincarnate Lamas and Palaces, shrines and temples embellished
with wood carving and metal work fashioned centuries ago. Afternoon Free for
shopping.
- Day 3: Morning Its off to Patan sightseeing and to the Tibetan Refugee Handicraft
Center. You will visit a city said to have been blessed by the Buddha, a city so beautiful
it was called Eternity Itself. Here are temples in gold, copper, russet brick and stone.
Her are gilded statues and a living vibrant culture. Here are legends and myths that bring
the Gods to life.
The Tibetan Refugee camp and its handicraft is a wealth of carpets that proves that proves
that resilience of a displaced people. You can actually watch Intricate designs come to
life.
Afternoon Bhaktapur, Pashupatinath and Bhaudhnath sightseeing tour that
sweeps you through Bhaktapur a preserved medieval town lived in and welcoming, built
around three fabulous squares that are the envy of Florence. From Bhaktapur its on to the
Pashupatinath, Nepals Hindu Holy of Holies, a place of special pilgrimage.
and on the Baudhanath stupa a Buddhist monuments, whose romantic beginnings
are rivaled by the sense of peace it gives. A chant of monks and monasteries make a
wondrous place truly fascinating.
- Day 4: Free until departure. Transportation to airport and assistance with check-in.
